People say Australia is a scary place full of creatures that bite, sting and kill. So what better way to celebrate Halloween than with some spooky songs from Australia? Or Straya, as pronounced by us locals.

This writing challenge comes from Buddy Gott and if you’re interested in checking out more spooky songs, films or TV shows, head on over to Plethora of Pop. Better still, why not participate in the challenge yourself?

Back to Australia.

Here are 11 splendid songs from down under that’ll be sure to get you quaking in your Blundstone boots. Or maybe just dancing.

1. Boogie Man by Daddy Cool (1974)
