Whenever I eat a nice meal, I like a nice drink to complement it. So it makes sense that 14 Foodie Songs to Whet Your Appetite requires 14 Boozy Songs to Whet Your Palette.

The idea for this writing prompt comes from Mark Holburn and what an excellent writing prompt it is.

Dinner’s nearly ready, so it’s time to get thirsty with some of my favourite songs about drinks.

1. Bring Me Some Water by Melissa Etheridge (1988)

First of all, if you’re going to be drinking alcohol, don’t forget to keep up your water intake. It could save you a whole bunch of headaches later on. Literally.

Melissa Etheridge’s debut single, “Bring Me Some Water”, is a song about the jealousy and pain she felt when her then-girlfriend slept with other people.

Etheridge needs water because she is “burning alive”. I, on the other hand, need water…
