G’day, mates. I’m Nichola, an Australian lady who lives in Barcelona and writes. I moved here during the pandemic … so that was fun.
When I was eight, I wrote a story about three pegs who jumped off the clothesline to explore the world. My teacher, Mr Morgan, said it was the best story written by a Grade Three child he’d ever read. I’ve been riding on the coattails of those pegs ever since.
I’m a non-best-selling author of one book, With the Music. It’s actually a really good book. I just didn’t market it properly cos marketing is boring. You should read it if you like 80s and 90s pop culture, and coming-of-age stories.
My writing is fueled by a passion for pop culture, creative fiction and a deep-seated hatred of the serial comma. Seriously, I wish Grammarly would stop suggesting I use this unsightly comma. It’s a stylistic choice, not correct punctuation! I will, however, use it if your style guide prefers — should you employ me for a well-paid writing project.
I’m fluent in Australian, American and English. I also know a little New Zealand and Canadian, eh. By that I mean spelling. I’ll use the form of spelling you prefer, cos I’m friendly and adaptable like that. However, my personal preference is to write: I went…
