Most people in Spain have been kind with my lack of language skills and appreciate that I’m trying. Like in your story, occasionally they’re not. It must be so difficult for people in English speaking countries. In Australia, it used to be common to mock people’s accents and grammar and have no idea what it’s taken for that person to communicate.
